Honoring Feminist Trailblazer Gloria Steinem

Governor Kathy Hochul today directed flags on state buildings to be lowered to half-staff and state landmarks to be lit pink in honor of the life and activism of feminist leader Gloria Steinem tonight, September 3, and on the day of her funeral.

“Gloria Steinem inspired generations. Fearless, witty and a quintessential New Yorker, she broke down barriers and changed what was possible for women everywhere,” Governor Hochul said. “Trailblazers like Gloria who refused to accept the status quo paved the way for all women to dream bigger and fight for more.
