Livingston County Welcomes Macauley as New Deputy County Administrator
GENESEO, N.Y., Sept. 4, 2026 — The Livingston County Board of Supervisors has appointed Sarah A. Macauley as the County’s new deputy county administrator. Macauley will work closely with the board and county administrator overseeing and supporting the County’s budget and finances, coordinating operations across County departments, and helping guide major initiatives in areas like healthcare and workforce development.
A long-time Livingston County resident and spouse of a fourth-generation farmer, Macauley said she is thrilled to apply her professional expertise to serving her community: “It's a chance to leave the County better than when I found it and to really get involved in the day-to-day activities in the place I live and care deeply about.”
Macauley joins the County following a 15-year tenure with University of Rochester Medicine where she spent much of her career in a dynamic role as a finance manager for Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network.
“I was responsible for the financial management of the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, one of the three organ procurement organizations in Upstate New York. I oversaw the budget, reporting, financial compliance, and planning. While the work was financially complex and important, I found the mission deeply rewarding. I was able to use my financial skills in an organization that was personally gratifying and I connected to the mission,” said Macauley.
Most recently Macauley was part of University of Rochester’s Pulmonary & Critical Care research administration serving as senior manager of grants management. There, she developed a love for navigating financial logistics and pursuing state, federal, and private funding necessary to facilitate research endeavors, while being able to work with some of the most talented individuals in their respective fields.
Livingston County Administrator Shannon Hillier has placed full confidence in Macauley and the skillset she brings to county management: “Sarah truly is the ideal professional for this role. She not only impresses with her expansive knowledge in procurement and accounting, but she understands the tremendous value of the people we have the privilege to serve every day.”
Macauley believes her knowledge and expertise will contribute to the county she loves, and encourages residents to take advantage of everything this region has to offer: “I really am a tourist in my own county. Whether it’s attending one of the festivals, hiking Letchworth, or exploring our farm, it's a place that provides me tremendous peace.”
As she assumes the role, Macauley brings the enthusiasm for Livingston County and high standards of success to best serve as deputy administrator.
