(VILLAGE OF ENDICOTT, NY) – Today, Broome County officials celebrated the groundbreaking of a new dog park at Grippen Community Park in Endicott. The project will add another recreational amenity for residents and their four-legged companions to enjoy.

The dog park is being installed by PJF Enterprises and will feature separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs, giving dogs of different sizes space to run and play safely. The project will also include benches, trees, waste stations, and signage.

The project is being funded through the County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Costs include approximately $67,000 for fencing, $11,000 for the asphalt entrance pad, and an estimated $3,000 for benches, trees and signage.

Construction is expected to be completed within the next four to six weeks. Once complete, the dog park will be open during regular Grippen Community Park hours, from 8 a.m. until dusk.

“Grippen Community Park has become a great place for families to spend time and enjoy the outdoors, and this dog park will give residents another reason to visit,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. “We’re happy to keep adding amenities to our parks that people can enjoy, including their four-legged family members.”

“The dog park is yet another great addition to the new Grippen Community Park,” said District 6 Broome County Legislator Greg Baldwin. “As a lifelong resident of West Endicott, I know how much this park means to our community. We are proud to continue offering new opportunities so all residents from our community can enjoy the park.”
